Why the 30 Day Minimalist Challenge?

Hello

Hope you had a great weekend wherever you are!!!

Today I'd like to share my reasons for taking part in the minimalist challenge.

For those who may be wondering what this challenge is all about, it is simply a challenge to help people get rid of things accumulated over time. If like me you have clutter that has accumulated over the years, this challenge can help start the decluttering process.

On a deeper level, it shows how one can live a full, meaningful life with fewer possessions. Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus of The Minimalists are advocates of the challenge and explain more about what minimalism looks like on their site.

For some time now, I have been going through my personal possessions in an attempt to get rid of what I no longer use or need, but I was still coming back to a bedroom full of clutter. Then on a fateful day, while watching YouTube videos of finances (a topic for another day), I stumbled on a series that demonstrated how to start the journey to minimalism. I decided to hop on the bandwagon because it seemed like the right thing for me.

To date I have found that this challenge has:
  1. Given me an opportunity to examine why I feel attached to certain things (some items I've had for years and have either never used them under the pretext of needing it for a future special event
  2. Understand the source of the ever-present urge/desire to keep acquiring property, be it items of clothing, furniture, stationery, crockery etc.
  3. Helped question why I need to have several of the same item, e.g when I shop for hair care products I tend to buy 2 or 3, don't know if it's just me 😬😬
Those are just a few reasons why I'm doing this challenge. For those who may be overwhelmed and not sure where to start, the 30-day challenge is a fun way to start the decluttering process.

I know this isn't for everyone but if you decide to try it I'd love to hear from you.

Have a great evening

Love
BelovedEsther

Reflections from "As a man thinketh" by James Allen

"As a being of intelligence, power and love, and the lord of his own thoughts, man holds the key to every situation, and contains within himself that transforming and regenerative agency by which he may make himself what he wills." Awareness: I hold the key to the change I desire, I must learn to look inwards and begin to work this principle in my life.

We are victims of circumstances only so long as we consider ourselves pawns of fate, tossed here and there by outside forces. But if you realise your creative power - if you assume responsibility for the seeds and soil of your inner garden - then you become the master of your fate' James Allen Awareness - As long as I continue to think of myself as the victim of circumstance, nothing will change. Take Action/Change - As master of my fate, I will no longer have a victim mentality but turn it around by working on the inner garden of my mind/thoughts
