Slay Doubt Challenge - Chapter 9 Reflections

Slay Doubt by Detola Amure

Do as Instructed

"One thing that can cause us to doubt is not being sure of what to do or being confused about the daily action steps you should be taking to fulfill your unique assignment and live out God's calling over your life.

You are a spirit; you have a soul that lives in your body. The correct order is for instruction to flow from your spirit to your soul and then to your body. They should always be in alignment."

Besides all the other things highlighted in the chapter, one thing stood out for me.
It is that in fulfilling the assignment God has given me; I need to be careful to make sure I'm following God's pattern and specific instructions, not the well-meaning guidance of well-wishers because it could have consequences I'm not prepared to shoulder or even bare.

Some other reflections from this chapter include the following.
  1. Whatever I'm doing must align with what God has told me, not what someone else thinks I should be doing.
  2. In answering the questions in the book, I realised that I haven't fully embraced my unique project. I've spent years dumbing myself down, waiting for the affirmation and validation of those I look up to and those around me, which has led me to feel paralyzed, unable to move forward.
  3. I can see that I now need to shut down the noise and seek God for mercy and clarification of my purpose and calling.

Reflections from "As a man thinketh" by James Allen

"As a being of intelligence, power and love, and the lord of his own thoughts, man holds the key to every situation, and contains within himself that transforming and regenerative agency by which he may make himself what he wills." Awareness: I hold the key to the change I desire, I must learn to look inwards and begin to work this principle in my life.

We are victims of circumstances only so long as we consider ourselves pawns of fate, tossed here and there by outside forces. But if you realise your creative power - if you assume responsibility for the seeds and soil of your inner garden - then you become the master of your fate' James Allen Awareness - As long as I continue to think of myself as the victim of circumstance, nothing will change. Take Action/Change - As master of my fate, I will no longer have a victim mentality but turn it around by working on the inner garden of my mind/thoughts
